The Avid® Pro Tools | Carbon audio interface for music production has been described as a creative game changer; its innovative use of eight built-in HDX processors and a custom FPGA enables near-zero-latency tracking and monitoring while using AAX DSP plug-ins. Since Carbon connects to your Mac® via Ethernet using a proprietary version of AVB (Audio Video Bridging, aka IEEE 802.1), you’ll need to use an AVB-enabled Thunderbolt™ Gigabit Ethernet adapter if your computer doesn’t have built-in Ethernet. The Avid-certified Sonnet Thunderbolt AVB adapter is a single-adapter solution for connecting a supported Mac with Thunderbolt ports to the Carbon interface.

The Avid-certified Sonnet Thunderbolt AVB Ethernet adapter allows you to connect to all devices on the network.

In addition to supporting the Pro Tools | Carbon interface, the Sonnet Thunderbolt AVB adapter allows you to add a Mac as an endpoint on an AVB network and connect to other devices such as audio interfaces, mixers, plug-in processors, personal monitoring stations, stage boxes, speakers, speaker processors, and more.

Support for audio-video bridging makes the adapter ideal for professional audio and video applications where data stream synchronization is a top priority.

Drivers supporting the Sonnet Thunderbolt AVB Adapter are built into macOS. Basic configuration takes place in the network control panel, while configuration for use in AVB applications is done via the Audio MIDI Setup app and control software.
